"Reclaiming Her Time"
Greetings beloved!
Its Jennifer Reid, the founder of theI AM SHERO Summit. It's been over a year since we celebrated our fifth annual I AM SHERO Summit and for many of you we have not been in touch since. We've taken some time off to recharge and rejuvenate and re-imagine just what it is that we do. As with all good breaks, they come to an end and our team is excited to be at it again!
A lot has happened this past year in our country; and not all for the good. There is a war on our young people, education,women's rights, black lives, the undocumented, and the right to a civil and just life. So, after a much needed hiatus, the I AM SHERO Summit is alive and kicking. Fret not; we have not lost time or missed opportunities. Instead, we've gained BIGGER vision and we are claiming back our time!!! (As Representative Maxine Waters would say)
Family, we need you. Our volunteers, our school partners, our donors, our vendors, and our friends are all what make us unique. Whether you are a former speaker, volunteer, school partner, friend, or donor, your support is the backbone of the service we do for black and brown girls all across Chicago-land. It's because of you that we've served over 800 girls and it will be with you that we will serve thousands more.
So, what's next:
We are excited to launch a new website this Fall at www.jroseproject.org along with social media updates, new apparel in our SHERO SHOP, our NEW BLOG, and of "SHERO SUNDAYS" where we will be going live to share empowering messages from yours truly!
We are back in the game and this time, we are bolder than ever before. We are not just empowering our girls; we are equipping them to take over the world. No more glass ceilings for our daughters! The future is female and its looks phenomenal!
